1. What is RESITE Recorder?

RESITE Recorder is a desktop application designed to capture all screen shots, key strokes, and web clicks in a Windows or SAP application. Based off a single source technology this one recording then can be output into multiple training and support formats.

2. What are the benefits of upgrading to the latest release?

The current release number is 7.2. Our updates include:

  • Complete integration with RESITE Publisher
  • Support for recording Java Swing, SWT, and some AWT applications.
  • Support for recording SAP Business One.
  • Improved timing and cropping of screen snapshots.
  • Improved speed of recording.
  • Detection of more controls, such as SAP ALV Grid and calendar controls.
  • Support for Citrix and Terminal Server environments.
  • Improved Asian language support.

3. What languages do you support?

Our latest release supports Arabic, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Polish, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Danish, and Swedish. We also offer customization should you need to expand your recording beyond what is currently provided.

4. What outputs are included?

Recorder comes standard with PowerPoint, Word, and XML output. We’ve created and included standard templates for BPP, End User, Configuration, Exercise, and Test just to name a few.  With addition of the Simulation output module, Recorder can also create advanced simulations that let your users view and interact with the documented application.  You can manually incorporate these different outputs into support system or you can use RESITE Publisher to automatically generate a fully-featured EPSS (Employee Performance Support System) with table-of-contents, index, and full-text search. 5. Can I buy just RESITE Recorder as a standalone?

Yes. You can purchase RESITE Recorder as a standalone.

6. Isn't there a 'light' version of Recorder available?

Yes. Recorder Express is our 'light' version of Recorder. This version is limited in output (only Word and XML), and has no simulation capabilities. However, if quick documentation is what you are after, Recorder Express may be right for you. If you would like to read more about Recorder Express, click here.

7. Is there a trial of Recorder available?

Yes. RESITE Recorder trials can be set-up through your sales representative. To contact a representative, click here.

8. What is the difference between driver and driver-less?

The driver-based recording engine requires that a special display driver be installed inline with the Windows display driver.  Using this display driver allowed us to easily capture detailed screen information, but because of interactions with the native display drivers and other applications that also installed display drivers, customers often experienced software conflicts that needed to be resolved manually with assistance from our support team.  Starting with RESITE Recorder 7.0, we introduced a new recording engine that no-longer requires use of a display driver to capture detailed screen information.  This new driver-less recording engine provides higher quality recordng while also eliminating all of the configuration issues that were associated with the earlier driver-based engine.  We continue to offer the driver-based recording engine to customers that have standardized on that solution, but going forward we are recommending that all customers use the driverless recording engine.

9. How do I get access to technical support?

Phone, Email and Web help desk is included as part of the maintenance agreement. There is no charge per case. Insite Objects has earned a reputation for excellent technical support from our hundreds of licensed customers. To contact RESITE Support via web or telephone, click here.
